Outdoor Reset:

For the last two years played around with the heating system to create a outdoor reset, but this saved very little money.  The thing that was very noticeable was the heat was less on the two upper floors. I would say investing into a outdoor reset is a waste of money.

Thermostats

Yes, scheduling a thermostats to come on and off throughout the day can save you up 33% of your heat bill.  Turning down the temperature on the non used floors will also save you more money.

 Thermostat to control 3 boilers:

The application is a commercial setup that also could be configured in a residential setup as well with lots of modifications that need to be done to make this work.

Circulation pump
I had the plumber rewire the circulation pump to run only when called from the other 26 thermostats, and not be controlled by the outside temperature as previous wired.

House outdoor Thermostats
The original setup was to turn on each boiler based on outside temperature.  The first boiler would turns on at anything below the set-point of 60F degrees outside temperature.  The second boiler would turns on at anything below the set-point of 32F degrees outside temperature.

Boilers
The boilers were originally setup at 180F degrees.  Later, I learned to adjust the two boilers temperature to 190F so I would never have to use the third boiler.  The age of boilers are 15 years old.  They are 80 percent efficient compared to new ones that are 99.5.

Facts
The challenge was to make the boilers less efficient to save the most money.  A efficient boiler makes more heat, but costs more to operate.
